Mostly Pergotime tables are used for controlled ovarian hyperstimulation.
The aim is recruit in average 2 follicles as the pregnancy chance increases with increased follicle number.
Also the risk of plural pregnancies increased with increased follicles number, why the stimulation is kept at a very low level.
Stimulation is monitored with ultrasongraphy around day 10-13. When a mature follicle is detected ovulation induction is given by injection og hCG hormone and ovulation occurs after 36-40 hours later. This injection is taken by the patient herselv at a specific time given in details after ultrasonography.
Ovulation induction with hCG (Ovitrelle /Pregnyl)
Injection with – frequently Ovitrelle is given 36-39 hours before insemination takes place. Ultrasonography is a must before hCG injection may be given.
Succeding cycles
If not pregnant, stimulation regiment may be increased. Often stimulation with FSH or HMG is added (Gonal F Puregon or Menopur)
Side effects
If any – hot flushes. Headache, seldom dizziness or blurring of the vision may be seen.
