The pregnancy chance is increased by insemination in couples that in vain have failed to accomplish fertilisation at home. A couple with 2 years of infertility in average posses a 0,5 % chance of getting a pregnancy each month.
The chance may by IUI be increased to 15-20% per cycle among couples seeking IUIH, IUID a bit higher 20-25 %. In women above 40 years of age the chance is less than 5 % and birth rate is less than 2 %.
Approximately 35-40% becomes pregnant and delivers after IUIH and 60- 70 % after IUID. Though IUI is not the end point in treatment but a method to be tried before the actual ART ie IVF or ICSI.
