Hormonal stimulation

Ultra Short protocol (USP) – scheme 2
This is also a rather old fashioned protocol. Here at day 2 or 3 Suprefact is given to increase the secretion of FSH and LH from the pituitary gland. When FSH has peaked exogenous FSH is added on with either Gonal F or with Puregon.

As premature LH surge may give rise to premature ovulation this protocol is often nowadays supplied with adding antagonist treatment the last days before giving ovulation induction with hCG. The follicular growth is monitored with ultasonography, which is also obligate to do when initiating the stimulation at day 2 or 3 of the cycle.

This protocol is now mostly used in women with previous poor response by the more conventional protocol s such as no 3 and 4 described later on the web site.
